What is Pest Control

Introduction
Pests are an element of daily life which are found all over the world. They have no definite boundaries within which they can be found and they are more wide spread in warmer climates.
All across the globe, pests are a nuisance for people. Governments and authorities alike have propounded measures and such other steps so as to control the extent of such pests and their spread. In developed countries, special exterminator units have been set up, either as a governmental or private initiative, to aid in the safe removal of pests from residential and commercial premises.
What is Pest Control?
Pest control can be defined as the control of the spread of an organism, no matter how miniscule it may be. Whether its spread is harmful will of course, be defined by the detrimental effects which it has either on economy or ecology.
Which are the Common Pests??
Across Australia, rats are one of the most common pests. Rats can cause mayhem, especially because they can feed on anything. They can survive for weeks without food and water, making it extremely difficult to control them. Moreover, they spread and reproduce at an immense rate, thus making the control of their spread all the more difficult. Virtually speaking, any animal or insect could prove to be a pest. Other common pests that cause problems for people are cockroaches, ants, spiders, fleas, bed bugs, silverfish, lice, bird lice, wasps, and the list goes on.
Pest Control Methods
Pest control methods have been formulated by governments all across Australia. Pest control technicians have to abide by their guide lines, and only a licensed pest control technician, who have passed the relevant training programs set out by environmental health, are allowed to treat residential and commercial premises.
Biological Control
This is a control method in which a natural predator of the pest is introduced into that specific atmosphere that the pests can be brought to a controllable number, quantitatively. This causes minimal harm to the surrounding environment. Companies in the U.S have used this specific method to perfection.
Mechanical Control
This is a referral to the use of human interference, in order to control the spread of the pest population. It can be further divided into:
Elimination of breeding grounds, this is one of the methods that have been followed in places around Australia quite effectively. By decreasing the rate of reproduction, the biological control measures are increased in terms of effectiveness.
The use of insecticides and pesticides have been regulated by the Australian Government and strictly controlled. This makes a pest control service safe for home owners and commercial premises, as products used within the industry like, Coopex, permethrin, Cislin are all regulated by government bodies. Each product also comes with a label and MSDS sheet. This outlines where each product can be used and what types of pest they are designed to manage.
Other control methods are field burning and space fumigation in order to drive away the pests on their own, instead of killing them. But that is not necessarily a solution.
