SPIDERS

Spiders are treated in a similar way to ants. However, the areas that need to be treated/sprayed are more specific and isolated. Gutters must be treated, as well as any webs and crevices in which spiders may be living.

The spraying and treating of surfaces (wall, floors, roofs) does not ensure that spiders that travel across them will die. This is primarily because the substance does not penetrate into the spider’s system and therefore does not harm them. Thus, one of the only sure ways to remove spider infestations is via physical impact.

1. Wear gloves when gardening or handling soil and rubbish.

2. Wear sensible foot  wear outside particularly at night when most ground dwelling spiders are active.

3. Where digging or gardening has occurred nearby be alert for disturbed ground-dwelling spiders.

4. Don’t leave toys or clothes on the ground over night as spider may use them as a temporary rest site.

5. Be alert for wandering ground dwelling spiders after long periods of very wet weather.

6. Be alert for wandering ground dwelling spiders following the widespread application of insecticides.

SPIDERS LIFE CYCLE & HABITS

Spiders can become a nuisance if left to breed around the home. They will spin webs from bushes to the home and use both as a nesting are. Spiders would have to be one of the hardest insects to keep away, the reason for this is because of the way they move around. They use the delicate art of web spinning to get around. This means they don’t have to come in contact with surfaces that may have sprayed by a pest controller.

Their pray is caught in webs that they spin. This gives them a contamination free meal, making it very difficult to eradicate them. The best way to solve a spider problem at your home is to hit them direct with a liquid insecticide. This is called an instant knock down.

Once a treatment has been carried out for spiders, it’s best to fully remove the webs that remain. This will help to keep them at bay for longer.
