Bedbugs can be usually seen crawling out during the early morning hours to feed; you can see them in mattresses and sheets. Another tell-tale sign of bedbug infestation is when you see blood spots in the bed sheets – a sign that the bed occupant that has been bitten by the bugs.
A person bitten by a bedbug will not feel anything at first, but will soon see that the bite area will become swollen and itchy. This is because the saliva injected by bedbugs whilst feeding can trigger irritation in many people.
How to Get Rid of Bedbugs
Getting rid of bedbugs involves intense treatment, not just simple spraying. Here are some of the things that professional exterminators focus on when treating bedbug infestation:
- Spraying the pleats around the mattress as well as all the frames of the bed
- Taking out the drawers in the bedroom and spraying these
- Removing clothes from cupboards and spraying all frames in there
- Washing the bed sheets and clothing, and drying them preferably in a dryer in high heat
