Pest Control for Cockroaches

Cockroaches can carry many different diseases, so regular cleaning of areas where cockroaches harbour is an important step in the process of eliminating them from your home. When a pest control technician comes out to a home to do a treatment for cockroaches, they would firstly do a thorough inspection of the home, paying particular attention to the kitchen areas. This is where they are most often found and where they tend to harbour the most. This is because of the amount of free food that is available to them.

Cockroaches are scavengers and will eat just about anything, so it’s important to keep food in sealed containers. This will discourage them from wanting to come into the home. If there is nothing for them to eat, they will generally find elsewhere to live.

If the underside of fridges and dishwashers and cookers are all cleaned beforehand, the products used by the pest control company will remain active for about twelve months. This will help to keep down cockroaches and other pests for this time.

Cooker and Oven

In the pictures below, you can see that the cooker has been pulled out as there where cockroaches harbouring in and around it. This would be classed as a mild infestation and was contained before they had a chance to spread into other rooms of the home. As we can see in the pictures, this is a typical example of poor hygiene. This will need to be cleaned then treated again. The first treatment was successful in that it killed all of the cockroaches in the oven. But if the bodies and faeces of the dead were to be left there, then it would eventually attract others to come and harbour there. In the picture that shows the heat element being lifted up, there are bits of old and mouldy food in the tray, along with some dead cockroaches. This is not a very good place to be preparing food. There will be all sorts of bacteria in and around this cooker, so it should be thoroughly cleaned before being used again.

This is why it is so important to use a reputable pest control company that offers the right advice and backs up the work with a warranty. If these types of pest problems are not sorted out correctly, it can be a health risk for the people living in the home.
