Floors throughout the home can become very dirty over time, including carpeted areas and tiled surfaces. Most home owners and tenants do general mopping of tiles and grout to keep them clean, but this is not the best way to clean these areas. Bacteria is left behind from dirty mops, and the grout absorbs the dirty water that is being used to mop the floors with. So hiring the services of a professional tile and grout cleaning company will enhance the look of these areas.
Professional Tile Cleaning
With a professional tile clean, the areas are firstly treated with a tile and grout cleaning solution. This is either mopped onto the surface or sprayed on with a low pressure pump. Once the entire surface has been covered, it is then agitated by using a rotary spinning tool with a brush attached. The brush will scrub the tile surface and also the grout lines releasing the dirt and grime.
For the best results it’s best to leave the cleaning solution on the tile surface for at least 20 minutes. This allows the cleaning solution to break down any greasy deposits that may be on the surface. It will also etch into the grout lines, giving a better result at the end of the cleaning process. Once the surface has been agitated it is then steam cleaned. The best method is to use a truck mounted tile cleaning machine. It is the same as a carpet cleaning machine, but with a different attachment that is designed to clean tiles. The attachment is a 12 inch spinning disc that pumps out steam at over 1200psi, this high pressure along with the steam and the cleaning solution is what cleans the tiles and grout lines. In the picture below you can see the before and after.
Clean Tiles Before Selling a Home or Moving Out of a Rental Property
Having your tiles cleaned can be of great benefit when trying to sell a home. This can give a whole new look to the home and give a very good first impression for potential buyers. It will also save the expense of replacing old dirty tiles.
Many tenants vacating a rental property are also getting their tiles steam cleaned before handing the keys back to the real estate agent. All tenants have to have the carpets professionally steam cleaned at the end of a lease, and some property managers are now requesting the tiled area also be steam cleaned when moving out of a rental home.
Using a professional will ensure your tiles are cleaned properly and that no damage will be caused by using an incorrect cleaning solution. Some tiles like polished porcelain will have to have a stripper used to remove the old sealer and then have the sealer re-applied. If this is not done properly, the surface will look very uneven and have a patchy look to it. So hiring the services of a professional company that understands the differences between the many tiles will ensure the best job possible.
