Removing Odours From Rugs
Odour and Stain Removal of Dog and Cat Urine
One of the worst things when you get home from work is; you notice either your cat or dog has urinated on your rug. When this happens, the only way to fully remove the odour caused by the urine is to have the rug professionally steam cleaned in a rug bath.
Best Rug Cleaning Process
Rugs can be cleaned onsite at a customer home. But the best type of deep rug clean is to use a company with a rug bath. This is the only way to go if there is any kind of odour, especially cat urine. With a rug bath the whole rug is submerged in a cleaning solution and scrubbed. Sanitisers and deodorisers are also used to eliminate the bad smell. This is all done in a 3 step process to ensure the best results.
The rug would be cleaned on both side so the backing gets a thorough clean whilst also ensuring any urine is completely gone. This type of cleaning method is very good for deep pile rugs, or shag piles as they are known. An onsite clean will never be able to fully remove bad odors or get deep down into the base of a shag pile rug.
Dog and Cat Odour
If there is a cat or dog odour to the rug and it has had an onsite clean, it may smell ok once the cleaning has been done. This is because the deodoriser is masking the smell, but it wears off after a few hours. And once some humid weather comes in, the odour will come back. The reason urine marks can’t be fully removed with onsite cleaning is because there is no way of properly drying the rug or fully extracting the urine. With bad odour, it needs the cleaning and sanitising solutions to be injected right through the fibres of the rug.
Once the cleaning has been done, the rug is left to dry naturally after having the cleaning solutions extracted. This will allow the rug to keep its shape and maintain a good look. Having a rug steam cleaned in a bath will be the best clean it can have. There is no comparison for this type of clean.
